(Poem) “When Rare Diamonds Go Unnoticed”
“The psychological trauma of
diminishing self-worth
within any culture or ethnicity is
self-destructive and inevitable,
leaving a void filled with confusion
and mental anguish.”

“When Rare Diamonds Go Unnoticed”
When rare diamonds go unnoticed
Darkness increases to cover the
True beauty and purpose of
a thing
-Violence is the only knowledge of
Mad men, their understanding is
An unjust weight
-Deplorable, disgusting, a stench
In the nostrils of justice were liberty
Is often denied
-Where eyes once filled with hope
And liveliness is darkened by
Irretrievable deeds of souls
Broken and hardened by the
elements of self-hatred-What escape do they seek
In hope of a borrowed redemption
Where darkness excludes the
entrance of light
-We’re reminded that animation
And expiration is vying for the
Same position
-Wielding anomalies of past
Aggressions and proclivities
Where humiliation and shame
Remains stagnant
-The breadth and width of our
Existence is as colorized
Vapors, sealed and compressed
In an hourglass horizontally placed
-Immovable is a lesson
unlearnedMapping the trials of life
Like tattoos newly placed
on ageless skinThe irrevocable fallacies of
The mindless man is oftenWeightier than the desire
To liveProvoking the spirit of
Judas to arise and defend
What self-condemnation
has swallowed. ©Dedicated: To all the slain Brothers and Sistaz and victims of the Criminalities of
corrupt policing practices and unjustified killings of our fellow citizens.

Quoted Message from Author: Before I was born, my mother made sure poetry was in my DNA, she read poetry to her unborn child, of course I’m talking about me, the youngest of 7 Langston was her favorite.
Reader thoughts: This poem titled: When Rare Diamonds Go Unnoticed inspires me as a reader to reflect on the damages of repeated trauma but also gives strength and hope back to the reader. It feels like a rain storm because the poet is able to take in everything that he has observed throughout histories storm and poured it out in one poem. And everything always feels better after the rain.
